Game Design Work

As a Game Designer,

I am very passionate about games and the concept of interactive storytelling. I hope to some day be able to design concept for games that have an impact on their players with compelling and interesting stories and perspectives.

My Game Design work includes:

Al Ghroob - Game Des

AL GHROOB

Al Ghroob is a stealth horror game based on Emirati mythology created in the Capstone Incubator Program at Endless Studios. Originally created in Unity then later remade in Unreal Engine 5.

Original Project Members:

  • Faris Kazim - Creative Director, Producer, Writer, Game/Level Designer, part of remake team.

  • Layan Showlaq - Art Director, Concept Artist.

  • Hamad Khoory - Tech Lead, Programmer, part of remake team.

  • Ghaya Alblooshi - Programmer.

The game's story revolves around our protagonist, Fahad, a young man who goes to the mountains of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates with his family for a camping trip. As the sun sets, they pack up to leave and discover that the car isn't starting. They decide to stay and sleep inside the car until morning.

In the middle of the night, Fahad awakes to an empty car. He steps outside to search and finds, hanging up on the tree by the dying campfire, his father. Horror washes over him. Then he realizes... Where are his mother and sister?

From this point, Fahad traverses the dark mountains to search for his remaining family members. On the journey, he encounters figures from Emirati Folklore and Mythology.

Franks Tabletop - Game Des

FRANK'S TABLETOP

Frank's Tabletop is a Tabletop Roleplaying Game (TTRPG) concept that attempted to create the first Massively Multiplayer or an MMOTTRPG variation of its kind.

It was built off of the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition ruleset but ran on an entirely homebrew universe called Aloreth. This universe was built over the 15 years that I ran the game privately. I created a document of cities, towns, religions, god and goddesses, cultures, subcultures, histories, wars, trade routes, and more.

What set Frank's Tabletop apart from a regular TTRPG is that I attempted to create a system where I would run games publicly within the universe and turn it into a living, breathing world.

What it took to bring it to life:

  • Unique Games: Each game would be a once in a life-time experience. No story would ever get repeated.

  • Everchanging World: The stories that would run in the game would slowly but surely change the world around the players, building up to a larger conflict.

  • Player Impact: Changes made according to player choice would remain consistent across all future games. i.e. If a group of players built a dock in a town, that town would now have a dock across all games.

  • Player Ranks: Players would be able to rank up in a separate, joined system with other players, from new player to legendary player. This would allow them to be eligible to join the final conflict at the end of the larger story arc.

  • Profession Community: Players would learn professions similar to an MMO and discover recipes in game to create items and sell them on a public forum or use those items themselves.

  • Guilds: Players would be able to create guilds to adventure in larger groups so they would have their own interconnected storylines.

  • Morality System: Players would be able to lead their characters into a dynamic alignment system that would place them somewhere on a morality spectrum. This would allow them to join more villainous campaigns and possibly, if they're very dedicated, become the villain of the larger conflict.

The website is now inactive and functions exclusively as an archive.

Rewind - Game Des

REWIND

Rewind is an unfinished game concept in the genre of casual story-driven mystery.

The game is about the player working at the back of an tape repair store in the 80s. There, they are given audio tapes and they have to repair it.

After going through many orders, the player starts receiving tapes that seem suspicious... Almost dangerous. There is something hidden in the background. Someone is getting hurt in those tapes. From this point on, the player starts to delve into the mystery of who might be sending these tapes in and why...

Finding Rapture Game Des

FINDING RAPTURE

Finding Rapture is an Alternate Reality Game that is currently in development where players can physically follow a series of puzzles to uncover a story in the real world.

The mountains in the UAE are shrouded in mystery and stories of Djinn and other mysterious happenings. The story of Finding Rapture is about a newly built town, called Al Tarab or Rapture, in the heart of the mountains suddenly disappearing without a trace. No people. No remnants of houses. Nothing... Except for a trail.

The game also has a podcast attached to it, titled "Finding Rapture", is about a woman named Hessa who starts to uncover this story herself. This allows people to follow the game without necessarily participating in solving the puzzles.

The game itself consists of very difficult puzzles that lead to one another that physically exist in the world. Players must explore the mountains themselves after solving the puzzles to find the end of this trail. It was created for a class initially and I will continue to develop it to completion.

Will you step through the door?
